Environmental Youth Corps

Registration is now closed for the 2023 program. Check back in March 2024 for next year’s registration!

The Environmental Youth Corps is a fun way for high school students to earn volunteer hours towards their OSSD while gaining hands-on experience in the environmental field. EYC members gain skills and experience that will be a great addition to their resume. If you enjoy being outdoors or have interest in environmental studies, you will benefit from this opportunity.

Typical Event Schedule

Late April/early May 2023 – Orientation 

May/June 2023 – Tree Planting event

May/June 2023 – Wildflower Plug Planting event

July/August 2023 – Invasive Species Removal event

July/August 2023 – Trail Maintenance event

July/August 2023 – Environmental Monitoring event

Notes
  • Participants are responsible for their own transportation to each event location.
  • Events will vary in duration – typically 1.5-2.5 hours.
  • Participants will require sturdy shoes, appropriate clothing, sunscreen, water bottle, snacks. All required equipment will be provided.
  • Participants are eligible for volunteer hours reflecting the hours contributed to events attended.
