Kettle Creek Conservation Authority

Seedling
Program

A variety of native tree and shrub seedlings are available to landowners within the Kettle Creek watershed. There is a minimum order of 200 seedlings. Trees purchased over the counter are $0.65 each. Orders of over 500 trees that are planted by KCCA’s tree planting crew are $0.50/seedling in addition to a planting fee of $0.65/seedling. Please contact staff as soon as possible to arrange a site visit as funding may be available to offset planting costs for larger sites.

Ideal sites include block plantings, planting marginal farmland, windbreaks, shelterbelts and riparian buffers.

Order Now for Spring 2025!

Trees are preordered and stock is limited. Orders are accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Additional Information

$0.65/seedling

KCCA staff provide technical tree planting advice, order the trees and arrange for shipment to our cold storage facility. Landowners are responsible for picking up their trees from the KCCA office on the Seedling Pickup Days and planting their seedlings.

Customers will be invoiced for their order in the Spring and payments will be accepted prior to picking up your order at the cold storage facility at KCCA’s Administration Centre.

$0.50/seedling + $0.65/seedling planting fee (grants may be available to help offset planting costs)

KCCA staff visit each site, prepare a planting plan, plant seedlings (by hand or machine) and apply one application of herbicide if required.

There is a minimum of 500 seedlings and landowners must prepare the area prior to planting to provide a level, obstruction and/or vegetation free site. Trees are not to be cut, harvested or otherwise removed from the planting area for a minimum of 15 years.

Landowners in Central Elgin, Southwold, Malahide and St. Thomas can also access the Greening Communities program which provides smaller quantities of trees.
