The Kettle Creek watershed continues to experience a slow and controlled spring melt.
St. Thomas—“The existing snow pack has diminished significantly,” says Jennifer Dow, Kettle Creek Conservation Authority’s water conservation supervisor. “Water levels remain high but the risk of flooding has greatly decreased.”
Environment Canada is forecasting precipitation for this weekend that will continue to contribute to higher water levels. Residents should remain vigilant as nuisance flooding is still expected in low lying areas.
KCCA continues to monitor conditions and will issue updates as necessary.
Residents are encouraged to take any necessary precautions as the spring melt continues. This includes ensuring children stay away from all water bodies. Residents are reminded to remove property from low-lying areas and are encouraged to keep catch basins clear of debris or snow.
Updates will be made available if conditions warrant. This conditions statement will remain in effect until Monday, March 23th.
