Dalewood Reservoir Trail Impassable due to Bridge Repairs

News Release
For immediate release

St. Thomas – From March 16 to March 26, the Dalewood Reservoir Trail will be impassable due to bridge repairs. Throughout this time multiple bridges will be completely removed, repaired and/or replaced.

The trail is closed to the public.

“Please respect our crews and give them the space to get the trail up and running for the spring season, “says Elizabeth VanHooren, general manager of Kettle Creek Conservation Authority. The public is asked to stay off the trail during this time period. As bridges begin to be removed and replaced, no alternate routes will be in place for safe passage until the work is complete.

The work is part of a larger project to enhance the Dalewood Reservoir Trail and create the area’s first Water Trail on the Dalewood Reservoir through funding from the Estate of Donna Bushell. A number of new bridges and re-routes are being completed and new benches at resting areas will be added. The Evans Sisters’ Water Trail will launch later this spring.

“The closure is disheartening as the weather warms and people want to get back outside,” says VanHooren, “But we hope that the wait will be worth it.”
