The City of St. Thomas is currently undertaking a Schedule ‘C’ Environmental Assessment to determine the feasibility of removing or replacing the Dalewood Drive Bridge due to its current condition and spatial configuration. The intent of this study is to identify the need and justification for any improvements, and to balance the needs of the community including pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.
The preferred solution currently being considered by the consultants undertaking the assessment is to maintain the bridge as an Active Transportation (pedestrian and cyclist) crossing only.
Further information regarding the Environmental Assessment can be obtained from the City of St.Thomas website: http://stthomas.ca/content/dalewood-drive-bridge-class-ea-study-information
Kettle Creek Conservation Authority (KCCA) has concerns that the loss of the Dalewood Drive Bridge as a vehicular crossing could negatively impact Dalewood Conservation Area by eliminating the convenient access to and from the City of St.Thomas.
As a result, we would like to hear from our campers and visitors of Dalewood regarding this issue.
