TD Tree Days planting 300 trees at Dan Patterson Conservation Area

St. Thomas, Ontario – Dan Patterson Conservation Area will get a burst of green on Saturday, September 14 when volunteers with TD Tree Days and Kettle Creek Conservation Authority plant 300 trees and shrubs.

“Kettle Creek Conservation Authority (KCCA) has supported TD Tree Days since 2012” says Betsy McClure, stewardship program supervisor. “On average, KCCA plants 50,000 trees per year. TD Tree Days is a great way of engaging our local community in the restoration and protection of natural habitats in our watershed.”

More than 40 volunteers from the St. Thomas community have signed up to participate in the event. Species being planted include red maple, bur oak, eastern redbud, nannyberry, red oak and downy serviceberry.

This year, TD is working together with 75 different organizations to plant over 30,000 trees and shrubs which will add to the more than 520,000 trees & shrubs that volunteers have planted through TD Tree Days since 2010. In alignment with the TD Ready Commitment, TD Tree Days events are helping to create a more vibrant planet by growing and enhancing green spaces in communities within the TD footprint.

About TD Tree Days:

TD Tree Days is the flagship volunteer and urban greening program of the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF). The program aims to provide TD colleagues, their friends and family, the community and members of the public, the opportunity to volunteer to help build healthy communities by planting trees and shrubs in urban and rural green spaces. Each year, TD works with local not-for-profits, municipalities, conservation authorities, and Indigenous communities, to bring planting events to life in green spaces within the TD North American footprint. These local experts provide support by ensuring the right tree is planted in the right place in alignment with the needs of the local natural habitat.
