Camping and Day Use Update
Dalewood and Lake Whittaker Conservation Area are open for overnight camping and day use on May 1.
Pools at both Dalewood and Lake Whittaker campgrounds will be open in July and August in 2022. However, due to a shortage of lifeguards, pools will operate as Class B pools with no lifeguards present. Children under 12 will not be allowed to enter without adult supervision. According to provincial pool regulations, KCCA is restricted to the number of bathers that each pool can have at any time when unguarded. Bather load is determined by the size of the pool and is dictated by regulation. Thank you for your patience as we work within regulations and with our local health units to ensure that we can open the pools in 2022 despite the lifeguard shortage. Please refer to your preferred campground page for more information.
You can also refer to the camping page for full details on what amenities are available.
Conservation Areas and Hiking Trails
Lake Whittaker and Dalewood Conservation Areas are open for day-use May 1. The Dalewood Reservoir can be accessed for water activities including the publicly accessible canoe/kayak launch located just off the Dalewood Road parking lot. A second parking lot with access to the Dalewood Reservoir Trail is available north of the Dalewood Campground on Dalewood Road. Please refer to the Dalewood Reservoir Hiking Trail Map.
A full list of KCCA’s hiking trails is available to view online.

The plan, including its associated policies and procedures, is updated as new information is obtained with input from KCCA staff, and relevant health units. A Summary of KCCA’s Safety Plan is available for download below. Associated appendices are available upon request.
