COVID-19 Camping Information

Due to the ongoing pandemic, camping at Dalewood and Lake Whittaker campgrounds will be a little bit different this year. KCCA is doing our best to ensure that as many facilities as possible are open and accessible during your stay. You can help. Be patient and follow all applicable COVID-19 safety measures and closures.

Before You Book…

Please review the information on this webpage carefully, including the “What is Open? What is Closed?” and the “Frequently Asked Questions” sections below. The stage/phase that the campground is placed in is beyond KCCA’s control and is determined by the Province or local health unit. Please note that Dalewood Conservation Area/Campground is located within the jurisdiction of Southwestern Public Health and may be in a different phase/stage of restrictions than Lake Whittaker Conservation Area/Campground which is located in the jurisdiction of the Middlesex-London Health Unit.

Check this webpage often to ensure that you have the most up to date information before your stay.

When/How Can I Book a Campsite?

The 2021 operating season will be May 1 – September 30 subject to provincial restrictions.

Online reservations are being accepted for dates after June 6, 2021 but will be subject to cancellation if current restrictions are extended. Limited campsites are available and additional sites will be made available once current provincial and local restrictions are known. Watch our Facebook page for site availability alerts. While walk-ins will be entertained this year; we expect to be fully booked – please call ahead. Reservations are preferred.

Dalewood 519-631-1009
Lake Whittaker 519-269-3592

Refunds Due to COVID-19

Refunds for reservation cancellations will be in accordance with KCCA’s Refund Policy. Exceptions to the Refund Policy will not be considered due to a lack of or change in amenities. Full Refunds regardless of advance notice timelines, including administration fees, will only be issued if the campground you have booked at is moved to Stage 1 (Lockdown/Control) during your reserved stay.

Self Screen; Stay Home if you are Sick

Follow all applicable COVID-19 safety measures – practice physical distancing, wear a mask, follow gathering limits and do not enter the campground unless you successfully pass the Ontario Government COVID-19 Self-assessment (https://covid-19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/)

All campers required to self-quarantine or isolate due to COVID-19, must do so at their primary residence.

What is Open? What is Closed?

We are doing our best to have as many facilities and services open and accessible during your stay. Please check the following list for more information. Campers are encouraged to call their preferred campground for up to date information after May 1.

Washrooms
Washrooms will be open. However, campers with trailers are encouraged to use their own facilities. Availability may be limited to allow for increased cleaning/disinfecting. Call ahead for up to date information. Masks are required in all buildings.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Should I Prepare for My Visit?
We are doing our best to ensure that as many facilities as possible are open and accessible during your stay. You can help.

Respect our staff and other visitors by following all public health advice. All campers and their visitors are required to successfully pass the Ontario Government COVID-19 Self-assessment (https://covid-19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/) before entering the campground. Do not visit if you are sick. Practice physical distancing by keeping at least two metres from others. All campers required to self-quarantine or isolate due to COVID-19 must do so at their primary residence.

Be prepared that some amenities and services may be closed or limited to address overcrowding and promote physical distancing. This may include limiting the number of day use/visitor passes sold on a given day or limiting pool/beach access. Please be patient.

In addition to your regular camping gear make sure you have packed:

      • A mask/face covering for each camper (required in all washrooms and buildings)
      • Hand sanitizer, soap and water
How Do I Know What Facilities or Activities are Available?

To find out what is available, review the above information on this webpage.

    • After May 1, please call your preferred campground for the most up to date information.
      Dalewood 519-631-1009
      Lake Whittaker 519-260-3592
Why Isn't the Day Use Fee Reduced if Not all Facilities and Services are Open?
KCCA’s normal fees will apply to all camping and day-use activities. These fees were not increased over 2019 levels. The availability of amenities or changes in delivery affected by COVID-19 restrictions is often beyond our control. Amenity availability and possible restrictions is available on this webpage and by calling your preferred campground ahead of your stay.

If you visit often, you may wish to purchase a Seasonal Day Use or Vehicle Pass, available by calling your preferred campground directly after May 1. Dalewood 519-631-1009 or Lake Whittaker 519-269-3592.

Why Are You Not Offering Refunds if Amenities are Limited During My Stay?
Refunds for reservation cancellations will be in accordance with KCCA’s Refund Policy. Exceptions to the Refund Policy will not be considered due to a lack of or change in amenities. Full Refunds regardless of advance notice timelines, including administration fees, will only be issued if the campground you have booked at is moved to Stage 1 (Lockdown/Control) during your reserved stay.
Do I Need a Reservation?
While walk-ins will be entertained this year; we expect to be fully booked – please call ahead. Reservations and contactless payment are preferred.

Reservations opened online on March 1 (book here). Only 50% of our camp sites will be available for booking prior to April 15. Additional sites will be made available once current provincial and local restrictions are known. Watch this webpage or KCCA’s Facebook page for site availability alerts.

What Precautions are in Place to Keep Your Public Washrooms Clean?
At this time, KCCA is keeping shared facilities like showers and laundry facilities closed so that we can prioritize the cleaning and disinfection of our washrooms. Washrooms will be cleaned and disinfected twice per day at a minimum or more in higher use areas. Masks are required in all washroom buildings.
