St. Thomas-Elgin Children's Water Festival

Water Festival

“A terrific way to spend a day learning!  The students learned a lot about various aspects of water.  The hands-on approach was well received”
– Teacher, Edward St. Public School

The Water Festival provides elementary students in grades three through five with the opportunity to learn about the importance of water, through interactive activities linked to the Ontario Curriculum.

This first ever St. Thomas-Elgin Children’s Water Festival was held from May 27 - May 30, 2008 at Pinafore Park in St. Thomas. Over 3,100 students from Elgin, Middlesex and Oxford Counties attended the Festival. The students participated in 43 activities that were developed around five themes: water protection, water science, water attitude, water technology and water conservation.

The St. Thomas-Elgin Festival was built on the successes of the London-Middlesex Children’s Water Festival hosted in 2007. The Festival will continue to rotate annually between Elgin, Middlesex and Oxford Counties.

The next Festival will be held in Middlesex County at Fanshawe Conservation Area in May, 2010.
